During this time of year everyone is excited about summer and school being out and kids graduating. There are a lot of parties and open houses and kids getting together to celebrate. Let's be honest and say there might be some drinking and driving during this time. This is one of those times when we need to talk to our kids about drinking and driving. Someone has to do it. We all need to do our part in educating our kids to the dangers of drinking and driving. They need to know the risks. That they could potentially kill themselves, their friends, or anyone else. Our own family has lost two brothers to drunk drivers and one of the drunk drivers was a 19 year old kid. The loss of a loved one from something like that is indescribable. Speeding, and seat belts are another point to drive home. Teens do not have the experience of a seasoned driver. They cannot gage speed, turns, and road conditions as well as their parents. Please talk to your teen about these issues. Also, did you know teens with a new license must drive alone for six months? Did you know it is illegal for them to use their cell phone and drive? Also, it is the law that they must wear their seat belt and it just may save their life in an accident. These are really important issues and I just wanted to share my thoughts with you.I want to wish everyone and their kids a safe and fun summer.
Sincerely, Dale
